McNairy Search Preparation
Get your facts straight before you pick up the phone. Pull the newest paper in the file. Read the court name off it. Copy the case number exactly as printed. Note the filing year and the event you want, such as a hearing, a docket entry, a judgment, or a certified copy. No case number? Use the full caption spelling and a narrow year range instead.
Keep each court type separate, too. Circuit, General Sessions, Chancery, Juvenile, and municipal clerks in McNairy County may not share one searchable index. A focused set of facts given to the right office saves time. It also prevents a false no-result answer. That kind of answer comes from searching the wrong McNairy County docket.
McNairy Docket Request Details
A strong request names the court, the case number, the caption, a filing-year range, and the exact item sought. Say whether inspection alone is enough or whether you need a plain or certified copy. If the record cannot be released, ask whether a redacted docket or a public order is available. Ask also whether another McNairy County clerk holds the file. That question alone can save a wasted trip.
Never send a Social Security number or other sensitive data. Do so only if the office lawfully requires a specific identifier. Without a case number, narrow the search with the court, exact spelling, approximate year, and document type. A tight request helps staff find the right docket. It does so without sweeping in private material that has nothing to do with you.
Before ordering, confirm the fee, accepted payment, pickup or mail procedure, postage, identification rule, and expected response. The county pages do not publish all of those terms, so a quick phone check prevents delay. It also keeps each request tied to the office that maintains the original court record.
Searching the McNairy County Court Docket
No single online form searches every McNairy County court docket. Start with the likely court and its record custodian instead. Circuit and General Sessions records sit with Circuit Court Clerk Ashley Littlejohn. Chancery files go to Clerk and Master Kim Boals. Juvenile has a separate line. A city clerk may hold a municipal traffic or ordinance docket.
- Identify the court from the notice, citation, pleading, or case type.
- Gather the case number, caption spelling, filing year, and record or date sought.
- Call the responsible clerk and ask whether a staff or counter search is available.
- Inspect the docket, then request a filed document separately if needed.
- Confirm copy fees, delivery, access limits, and the latest court setting.
The official county site provides the court-office route.

The McNairy County page points you to its courts and facilities, though it stops short of a live case index for docket searches.
McNairy Docket Starts with Clerks
The word "clerk" can send a docket search to the wrong building. Ashley Littlejohn keeps Circuit plus the consolidated General Sessions and Juvenile clerk functions. Kim Boals keeps Chancery records. Ross McNatt's County Clerk office handles licenses, vehicle work, and county commission minutes. It does not keep the main trial docket.
| Office | Docket role | Contact |
|---|---|---|
| Circuit Court Clerk | Circuit, General Sessions, and Juvenile routes | 731-645-1015; Juvenile 731-645-1020 |
| Clerk and Master | Chancery, probate, trust, equity, and domestic matters | 731-645-5446 |
| County Clerk | County administrative services, not trial dockets | 731-645-3511 |
The AOC clerk directory cross-checks county and city offices.

Directory entries can age, so confirm the current custodian by phone.
Inside a McNairy County Court Docket
A docket is a running index of filings and events. It may show a case number, caption, filing date, motion, order, hearing, continuance, judgment, or disposition. The full document behind an entry does not always appear, though.
| Case number | The clerk identifier used to retrieve the file. |
|---|---|
| Caption | The case title or parties, subject to access rules. |
| Event | A filing, order, plea, notice, judgment, or other docket act. |
| Setting | The date, time, court, judge, and hearing type when public. |
| Disposition | The reported resolution or transfer status. |
A plain copy just reproduces the record. A certified copy carries the clerk's own authentication. State fee schedules list 50 cents per page plus $5 for certification, but the McNairy County clerk should confirm the current charge and payment method.
McNairy State Search Gap
The Tennessee Public Court Records System says availability depends on the court office, and McNairy County is absent from its participation list. Likely county paths return errors. That gap makes calling the clerk part of the real docket process. The official TnCIS county list documents the coverage limit.

Recheck participation over time, since systems change. A missing online result is not proof that no case exists. Remember that nCourt and LexisNexis links on county pages are payment routes, not a complete docket search.
Courts That Keep Dockets in McNairy County
Each McNairy County court docket reflects a court's jurisdiction. Circuit serves as the general-jurisdiction trial court. Chancery handles equity plus many probate, trust, domestic, and related civil matters. General Sessions holds limited civil and criminal authority, Juvenile applies special access rules, and city courts handle local ordinance and authorized traffic work.
| Court | Docket covers | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Circuit | General civil and criminal trials and lower-court appeals | Justice Complex, 731-645-1015 |
| Chancery | Equity, probate, trust, and domestic categories | Courthouse Room 205, 731-645-5446 |
| General Sessions | Limited civil, misdemeanor, traffic, and preliminary matters | Justice Complex, 731-645-1015 |
| Juvenile | Juvenile matters with category-specific privacy | Justice Complex, 731-645-1020 |
| City court | Municipal ordinance and traffic matters | Issuing city's clerk |
The Circuit Court page names the judge, clerk, hours, and location.

Use these office facts to reach the right docket custodian, not to infer a case result.
Three McNairy Record Locations
Three buildings matter. The Justice Complex at 300 Industrial Drive houses Circuit, General Sessions, and Juvenile offices. Chancery sits at the courthouse, 170 West Court Avenue, Room 205. The Government Annex at 530 Mulberry Avenue holds the County Clerk's administrative office.
One address warning: the AOC calls the Justice Complex 300 Industrial Park Drive while county pages say 300 Industrial Drive, so confirm the street wording before travel. Circuit and General Sessions list weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Juvenile closes at 4:00 p.m. Chancery lists Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday hours, with Wednesday omitted, so call rather than infer closure. The official Chancery page identifies Kim Boals and Room 205.

That office is the direct route for its docket and filed orders.
How to Find Court Dates and Settings
McNairy County posts no public calendar grid. A current court date may appear on a notice, scheduling order, citation, continuance order, docket, or internal setting sheet. Trust the filed paper first. Then call the clerk to ask whether the setting was reset, passed, cancelled, or removed. Ask for the date, time, court, judge, courtroom, and setting type. Also ask whether a public lobby list or terminal exists.
The numbers to know: Circuit and General Sessions use 731-645-1015. Juvenile uses 731-645-1020. Chancery uses 731-645-5446. The General Sessions page gives the local contact and payment route.

A payment link does not confirm a hearing. Use the clerk-held setting.
McNairy Counts Need Context
Counts need context before you read them as trends. Official reports recorded 718 criminal filings and 700 dispositions for July 2023 through June 2024. Probation violations accounted for 226 filings. For July 2024 through June 2025, Chancery reported 172 filings, including 84 probate and trust filings, while Circuit reported 44 civil filings.
These are counts of administrative activity. They are not tallies of unique cases or people, so they cannot answer whether a specific McNairy County docket exists; they only show why court and case type matter.
Public Access to Court Dockets
Tennessee's courts open most records to the public. Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 34 balances that access against statutory, rule-based, sealed, and protected categories. The Tennessee Public Records Act also backs requests that are detailed enough and sent to the government custodian.
Public access has limits.
Rule 34 distinguishes public court records from protected documents and internal court material. Tennessee Juvenile Rule 114 makes dependency and neglect proceedings nonpublic and treats other juvenile matters differently.
A sealed case, sealed document, redacted filing, and juvenile-confidential file are not the same status.
The official Rule 34 page shows the public-access framework.

Ask the clerk whether a public or redacted docket can be inspected even if an attachment stays withheld.
McNairy Juvenile Docket Access
McNairy County gives Juvenile Court its own line: 731-645-1020. Weekday hours run 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Justice Complex. Van McMahan sits as judge. Ashley Littlejohn serves as clerk, and Pam West is the Youth Service Officer. The official Juvenile Court page posts that phone and contact route.

Ask what access the court allows before requesting names, settings, or filings. Dependency and neglect proceedings stay closed, though a requester with a direct interest may have a different legal route.
Docket Records at the Clerk's Office
Want to know what happened and when? Ask to inspect the docket. When the exact wording of an event matters, ask for the filed complaint, charge, order, judgment, decree, or sentencing paper, and request certification only if an authenticated copy is needed.

McNairy Appeals and Federal Dockets
Tennessee Public Case History searches the Supreme Court. It also covers the Court of Appeals and the Court of Criminal Appeals. It covers appeals only. That makes it something other than a general McNairy County trial docket. Search modes include appellate case number, style, party name, and business name. Data may lag through the prior business day.
Federal cases use PACER and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. McNairy County sits in that court's Eastern Division. It is served at the James D. Todd United States Courthouse in Jackson. Bankruptcy runs through a separate federal court and calendar. A federal search cannot replace a certified county record. The county clerk cannot produce a PACER docket.
McNairy Docket History Route
McNairy County dates to 1823. It was organized the next year in 1824, with the first court meeting near Purdy. The Purdy courthouse burned in 1881. County government later shifted to Selmer. So an old docket may not sit with the active court clerk.
For that, try the County Archives at 170 West Court Avenue. It keeps Tuesday and Thursday hours from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The published phone is 731-645-7095. Archives staff route historical and genealogy work. Live cases stay with the current court clerk. Fire, courthouse moves, and record transfers all shape what survives and where it rests.
McNairy County Court Dockets by City
The 2024 Tennessee certified population report uses 2020 Census data. Its ranking lists five incorporated places. Selmer leads, followed by Adamsville, Eastview, Bethel Springs, and Michie. Adamsville spans Hardin and McNairy. So the issuing court and county still matter.

Where you live does not pick your docket. The court named on the filing, citation, or notice controls where the record starts.
McNairy Payment Links Differ
The official county court pages link to nCourt and to a LexisNexis payment site. Those links may serve a payment task once the clerk confirms the account and route. They are not the full McNairy County court docket. County-linked nCourt endpoints have returned a “No Org” message. That message says nothing about whether a case exists. It also says nothing about money due or a hearing still set.
A vendor receipt is not a court disposition. Payment may post while a judgment, compliance entry, or later setting still needs clerk review. Call the office named on the notice before sending funds. Ask staff to confirm the case number, court, amount, accepted channel, and any fee. Keep the receipt. Then ask how the charge will appear in the official docket.
A failed payment page is not a no-case finding. A successful charge is not a certified judgment. For current status, rely on the clerk and the filed court record alone.
Map and Directions to the McNairy County Justice Complex
